Description:
Densmores are another brand of typewriter that I can never seem to part with. (I think this is my third 5? Plus some ones and fours.) They’re so well-engineered that typically even the ones found “in the wild” still function, but the platens are cracked and broken. This one doesn’t yet function, but the platen is good enough… at least for the moment. I obtained this one in April, 2026. It was formerly of the Purdue Collection of emeritus mathematics professor Michael P. Drazin, who began collecting these machines back in the 1960s and '70s.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Densmore 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Densmore Serial Number page and the Densmore 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
