Description:
Another version of the popular 250s. I believe this is the last version of the 250 that came out in late 62. This one was new for 1972 and done by 74. Seems the big push for this was the ABS case. You have to wonder what SC's strategy was with all the different names. Each one would create a part change and downstream support. Plus, the marketing literature had to be a nightmare. All of this adds to the cost. I guess always appearing to have something new to talk about was the idea.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona 250 XKE on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona 250 XKE By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
